CPI has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and visionary Manager to lead our Synthetic and Mammalian Upstream Team, that is part of our Research and Development group at CPI Biologics. This is a strategic leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the future of biologics development through cutting-edge science and team empowerment.
The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team, drive technical excellence, and deliver complex projects involving synthetic and mammalian expression systems. Your work will directly support the implementation of the biologics technology team strategy and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutics.

Key tasks
Key tasks in the role will include (but are not limited):
Lead and develop a high-performing team, translating strategy into action.
Provide technical leadership on complex biologics projects.
Oversee development and scale-up of synthetic and mammalian expression systems.
Manage resources and project delivery timelines.
Build external networks and represent CPI as a credible expert.
Support business development and bid activities.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and capability development.

Must be educated to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline with relevant research experience at a senior level and;
Demonstrate expertise in mammalian upstream processing, including CHO and HEK293 systems, and bioreactor scale-up.
Have strong leadership and team development skills.
Have experience in synthetic expression, including mRNA synthesis.
Experience of eukaryotic gene design for biologics production, cloning and transfection.
A track record of leading the technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and being the primary technical contact for clients and/or other stakeholders.
It would be great if you also had:
A supervisory or management qualification.
An understanding of GMP requirements for the production of biopharmaceuticals.
Expertise in high-throughput bioreactor platforms.
Expertise in advanced therapeutics.
Expertise in perfusion culture and process intensification.
