We’re looking for a motivated Scientist 1 – Oligonucleotide Synthesis & Purification to join our team at MMIC in Glasgow. In this role, you’ll contribute technical expertise to support and deliver a range of projects within CPI. Working under the guidance of senior scientists and your line manager, you’ll help drive high‑quality experimental work, analytical support, and continuous improvement across oligonucleotide development activities.

Setting up, planning, and executing experimental runs, analysing and reporting results in line with project requirements.
Using, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance on oligonucleotide synthesizers, preparative chromatography systems, and similar laboratory equipment.
Operating LC‑MS instrumentation, including interpreting spectra, method development, calibration, and carrying out routine maintenance.
Preparing data sets for analysis and supporting statistical evaluations.
Working collaboratively with the wider project team to plan daily and weekly activities.
Authoring, reviewing, and approving SOPs, methods, and technical specifications.
Staying up to date with current developments in oligonucleotide synthesis and purification.
Performing maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
We’re looking for someone educated to at least HNC/Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline with relevant industrial experience. The successful candidate must also have a foundation of technical knowledge and experience in synthetic chemistry, including strong experimental documentation and data presentation skills, along with knowledge and experience working with analytical techniques and interpreting data.
